Loofah Batting Balls
Loofah Batting Balls! I can't think of an easier activity for your little than hanging some loofahs—this is fun from newborns up!
Loofahs are great because they are inexpensive, are easy to grab (they are almost like a montessori ball), you can get them in so many colors, and you can use them for yourself when baby is done! I remember when Norah first seemed like she was consciously moving her hand to touch a hanging ball, it was such a cool moment.
Try taking a loofah and hanging it over your infant when they are on their back, move it slightly and watch them track the "ball" with their eyes. This is part of the Lovevery Play Gym and we have loved it! Try different positions like directly over their chest, their hand or further toward their toes to get them to look and move their head in different directions. This builds different muscles and coordination! You can also hang it during tummy time for them to look up at, which builds their arm and chest strength. For an older baby like Norah, try hanging a few loofahs and let them experiment pulling and hitting the balls. It takes hand-eye coordination to grab and hit the moving balls—it is like tetherball for babies! This grey and white loofah from Target is great because of the contrast, perfect for infants! I love creative, simple ideas like this. Thanks @candokiddo for the inspiration!
