Bead Bag
Bead Bag 🎉 This play idea is perfect for making tummy time interesting or including some sensory play in baby's day! I was amazed how long my 16 mo was interested in squishing the bag! This sensory bag is appropriate from a few months old and up--it is so fun toddlers will be intrigued too! 🤩
All you need to do is fill a gallon bag with some plastic beads (I used pony beads from Office Depot-but many stores stock similar beads in the craft section), add water, squeeze the air out and close the bag. 🤗 I use Ziploc brand bags and don't have much issue with leaking. If you are worried about leaks you can tape the bag shut, use stronger freezer-grade bags, and/or double bag. Reusable silicone bags can work well too, but they are usually more opaque. If you would like, you can tape the bag down to the floor by using painter's tape around the edges. This is a good strategy for biters!
For tummy time, place baby in front of the bag and let them observe and try to touch the bag. If baby can't touch the bag yet, you can swirl the contents around for him. The bright colors and movement will intrigue him!
Older babies and toddlers will like touching and squishing the bags and watching as they move the beads.
Make sure to supervise closely as baby plays. Water-based sensory bags are great because you can reuse the materials by just drying them out! .
